Based in London, UK, Yasmine Gill is an Italian Canadian singer-songwriter, pianist and producer celebrated for her sensational, sultry vocals that accompany her intimate lyrics. She has performed internationally in venues across Canada and the UK. Loudness Blog describes her music as elegant sophisti-pop, comparing her to the likes of Snoh Aalegra and Lianne La Havas.
Yasmine’s early musical education took place during her childhood in Tunisia, backlit by her dad’s jazz and blues records of artists like Diana Krall and Norah Jones. This soundtrack inevitably led to her yearning for soul and R&B music later in life, learning to play the piano at the age of 6 and singing all of the tracks on Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me by the time she was 12.
Yasmine eventually left Tunisia for Canada, where she attended McGill University in the city of Montreal. She frequented the Montreal music scene and quickly became a familiar face; collaborating with artists like Edwin Raphael, Qi Yama and Kashmir Winter.
Since moving to London, Yasmine has taken on the vibrant musical landscape of the city; playing the Half Moon Putney, The Ned and performing at showcases for Breaking Sound and SoFar Sounds.
Yasmine’s sophomore EP as an independent artist, If Coming Home Was Easy, explores her passion for jazz. She delves skillfully into this genre through her matured and sultry vocals and musical compositions. The EP is delicate, vulnerable and honest, deep diving into the complex emotions of grief, heartbreak and the longing for stability, something or somewhere to call home.
